BOUNOURE & GENEVAUX - SENSTIVE SURFACES -
CARTE BLANCHE - ATELIER JESPERS -
BRUSSELS - MARCH 2020
Atelier Jespers is pleased to announce the exhibition “Sensitive surfaces” by French artists Bounoure & Genevaux at the OFF Collectible fair from February 5 to March 23, 2020.
Guillaume Bounoure and Chloé Genevaux work on the theme of motionless or silent movement to create large polyptychs adapted to the nature and measure of Atelier Jespers.
They play with light to enhance the beauty of ordinary things. Their works are constantly evolving with space and time. In the modernist house-workshop of sculptor Oscar Jespers, built by Victor Bourgeois in 1928, they choose to seek out the original shades of the building. “Simple folded sheets evoke the pure and subtle play of volumes assembled under the light, a wink to the modernists.”
Jean François Declercq – curator of the exhibition
ONE FOLD - BOUNOURE & GENEVAUX
Simplicity etymologically means “which has only one fold”. The fold and the symmetries it generates is a source of multi-fold (multiplication). Also, he was seen by great thinkers like Leibniz, Luminet or Lao-tzu as the matrix of the universe. The one product the two, both are three and from there are born the ten thousand beings … The fold is in our eyes the creative path par excellence. With this minimalist abstraction, Bounoure & Genevaux compose with space and light to bring a fifth dimension to ordinary things.
